[Strange, and with a last name in what sounded like Old Insomnian to boot. But...well, could Ignis really say he was the same person now that he'd been at the end of the long night? If Ardyn had been through anything like what happened in Sinnoh, then the apparent sharp change in attitude made sense.]
...Glad to hear it.
[And he found that he meant it, oddly enough.]

Mind, that entire side of the family hates my guts except for Arianna, but the fact that there's even a 'that side of the family' to talk about at all gives me great joy.
[Izunia loves his stupid bro and his stupid bro's family.]
As for this place, it's a world with an intensely damaged fabric of reality, but for the most part we're a peaceful group. You shouldn't have to worry about any major threats here, just be prepared for my brother-in-law to try something incredibly stupid at some point.
[From the way he says it... Izunia's used to having to reassure people of this.]

If I may be blunt, you appear to be the first - certainly the first I've spoken to - who was in another place and wasn't in a situation where a small group was coerced into murdering each other for various purposes.
[The reassurance routine is not coming out of nowhere.]

No, that was very much not the case.
We have to save a world by appealing to a pantheon over twice the number of the Hexatheon and confronting someone with control over their creator god and the power to reset the world dozens of times over.
[...as you do.]
I have four others equally as strong as Hemera, if outpacing Aurora a bit, with the ability to incapacitate as well as outright overpower. I'm not concerned of immediate physical threats, and the rest can be dealt with as it comes along.

... I really hate gods, you know.
[SIGH. Of course it was gods, if it wasn't murder.]
There's not really much in the way of immediate threats to be concerned about. I'm more concerned for Church if he pulls something stupid.

Oh, they're not all that terrible once you get to know them. Very open to communication, and helpful where they're able. Giratina and Darkrai were...a bit difficult at first, but they're all well meaning enough.
[Shrugging, he adjusted his sunglasses.]
And dare I ask what you have in mind?

My brother's husband is a very protective idiot. He means well, mostly, if you're not me, he's just... very loud and stupid, so please don't injure him too badly.
I know you don't. Again, Church is stupid.
[Beat.]
And good gods, no formality, I'm retired.
[Beat.]
And good gods, no formality, I'm retired.
If you please.
[He smiles, and gives Aurora another round of ear scratches.]
Care for a tour, or would you prefer a fuller situation update, first?

Good enough for me. This is Keystone Station - it's a bit of a complex at this point, three main buildings and a bit of a stable. This is the newest one, which is mostly housing - small apartments, communal kitchen.
[Time to stop scritching a good girl and straighten up.]
This floor's the doubles, which - oh, Prompto's here, but he's from just about the time Noctis went into the crystal, so you're forewarned.

Noctis was here, for a time - about the same time period, but he's been gone for a while now. Also another version of you, same time period, also vanished.
[He pauses.]
Right now, it's me, Ardyn, Prompto, and Ravus of all people. The last is still stubborn and stupid and Ardyn has his family to look after him, so I've been keeping an eye on Prompto and making sure he eats real food and so forth. He's... mildly traumatized but alright, mostly. I value his friendship a great deal.

Ravus especially keeps someone keeping an eye out for him, I think. He may be an idiot, but I don't want to see him come to harm.
[ravus is a complicated subject because he's a complicated boy.]
As for Prompto, it's no trouble at all. He's practically family, I'm not very well going to leave him to flounder.

I've a decent idea how to deal with Ravus by now, I think. If nothing else he seemed to tolerate me once upon a time, which is a fair start.
[compared to ravus with most people, that's practically a shining endorsement.]
But I'll still thank you all the same. I do worry about Prompto a little more than I might about Gladio, now and then.

Certainly understandable. I worry about him a great deal myself. He's...
[Izunia pauses, and sighs.]
I fear that because he never got the sort of unconditional support that he should have from his parents, he'll never be entirely secure in his place in the world. I do my best to offer him such now, as much as I can, but he's largely an adult and the damage has been done.

All we can do is keep trying, no? All the more so when that's difficult.
LA Ignis & Somnus: LA Arrival Scenario (This won't go terribly wrong...)
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
[All in all, the greeting new arrivals face this month is a quiet one, one that reflects the quietness of the previous month, perhaps. There are no real hazards, no falling islands, no strange creatures running rampant. Indeed, were it not for the unexpected departures and the equally unexpected return of certain memories to certain people, the month would have been worryingly calm. The calm before a storm.
As Ignis walks along the beach, he's not looking for any of the newcomers. Indeed, he is instead using the quiet and the rhythmic sound of the lapping waves to help him sort out his feelings in regards to those who were lost and those things that were remembered. At his side, Leo acts as his eyes for the things his walking stick may not find. The tigerlily is not so skilled at the job as his firebird had been, but Gladio trained him well and Ignis has every faith Leo will catch on quickly enough to the new job that is required of him. It's the fact Leo is still learning that keeps Ignis from being upset when the tigerlily very deliberately steps in front of him causing him to have to stop suddenly and press a hand to the animal's back to keep himself from stumbling.
Leo rumbles deep in his throat, a sound that is both curious and warning. Ignis hasn't heard anyone approaching, but that doesn't mean someone isn't there. The tigerlily wouldn't have reacted as he did if there wasn't.]

Hello? Who's there?
[If he could see at the moment, then the sight before Ignis would be an extremely confusing one. The man isn't quite as tall as Ardyn, but distinctly taller than Noctis, and other than the subtle differences in haircut and more significant ones in clothes, that's the only difference.
The voice, on the other hand... Well, if it weren't for the fact that the man speaks nothing like the youngest generation, there's plenty of reason to doubletake.]
Steady, steady... Is your beast tame?
[Because that's clearly what he should be concerned with. Somnus isn't an idiot who can't recognize a companion animal, even an odd-looking one, but he's also not stupid enough to not realize that this critter could easily be as much for protection as guidance.]

He will do no harm to those who wish no harm upon me.
[It takes Ignis a moment to reply because he is confused. The voice the man before him speaks with is very dear to him and yet, he shows no sign of recognizing him. It takes very little to realize this can't be Noctis then no matter how much Ignis may wish it was. Who is his person sounds so much like his king? Back home, Noctis had a body double for security reasons, but said body double sounded nothing like the person he so looked like.
Eventually, Ignis gives up trying to sort out his confusion and instead focuses his attention outward again. The first thing he notices is that Leo is still growling lowly and hasn't moved from his position standing in front of him.]
I assume you're a new arrival? May I ask your name?
