SHAPESHIFTER DRAGON AU MEME

I was going to write a bunch of prompts for this but you know what? Fuck it. You all know why you're here. Just remember to content warn your smut, my fellow sinners.

TLDR Dragons can shapeshift, have been hiding among humanity, some of them for a very long time. Culturally there tends to be a split between the ones that stay in one place and build a power base versus the ones that are more nomadic and wander from place to place. Also hoarding instincts are weird and sometimes latch onto things that are very definitely not Typical Hoards.

[The first time Akira met the young lorekeeper had been... not very friendly. Hearing that much of the draconian history was kept by one human was too tempting- he wasn't very interested in history except for one thing: Kaiba might have knowledge of lost hordes or ancient tombs. And THOSE made him drool.

So he had tried to sneak into his estate, and was out maneuvered. Which even for a dragon as young as he was was embarrassing. Many would have been furious. Akira on the other hand was fascinated. And often just kept showing up. Sometimes to drop off something new and interesting he found but didn't want to Keep for himself. Relics and bits of horded knowledge he had nicked from older dragons that refused to share their secrets. Today he is lounging in his human skin in a fancy chair, reading an old leather bound book that may or may not actually be cow leather.]

[The security at the Kaiba estate had been mundane but effective enough. Once he understood more about dragons and the slightly more magical world around him, he made some...improvements. They were still mostly theoretical and experimental, but it had thwarted at least one would-be intruder.

Said intruder kept finding holes in the security, though, which makes the intruder very observant, very smart, and very determined. Professional, even. He'd caught only the most fleeting glimpses of the man-beast on cameras, but he knew upon seeing this...boy, honestly, can't be much older if at all than himself, that he needn't necessarily call security or raise a fuss. Pauses at the door, assesses the situation, closes it behind him, shrugs off his coat.]

Come bearing more gifts, Trickster?

[Akira watches all this like a cat tracking a toy, his grin showing too many teeth. At his age, keeping his disguise up took mental effort, and he was feeling too eager to fully manage it, little bits of uncanniness slipping through]

I'm curious, for example, why you've decided to show yourself today. You're getting bold.

[that 'always' has his heart thumping. Around his own kind, there tended to be a habit of stasis. Even those that roamed the world were very set in their ways if it didn't have to do with their hoards or hobbies. Humans were much more interesting, and so far this one more than anyone else he'd met. He craved knowledge and going beyond his limits. It was what kept Akira coming back to test himself against his traps ]

Bold? Only if I have something to be afraid of. Do I?

I know just enough to be aware that it would be extremely unwise to make a move against me. And you're not stupid. So you're not out to hurt me. You're feeling me out. I haven't kicked you out or made any action against you after finding you here, and you think most people would. Most people would have drawn a weapon or called the police. You know I'm not like most people.

You find that interesting. You're getting my attention deliberately.

So my question in return is: do you have anything worth my attention other than being a minor nuisance and helping me test out my security measures?

[Xander makes a startled noise at the action, but doesn't resist... thought his body is tense and his wings twitch against his body.

Eventually he lowers his head, relaxing a little and rumbling in his chest]

[He watches, carefully, and inclines his head.]

[Izunia settles in, curling his tail around Xander's bulk. There's a small little sigh.]

[Her head snaps up with a glare. That quickly fades when he doesn't start screaming. This is fine. Cause she hadn't even heard him over her own noise.

If he says he'll help then she'll make it easier, by moving towards him. Stumbling over to the stairs and up- Okay, her head and some of her neck will go up the stairs. Hi new friend!?]

[It is unlikely that Garon is any kind of cooperative, and less so with organisations that are interested in human rights and whathaveyou. Still, it is some idealist’s idea to send a representative year after year anyway. If she has any reservations about Nohr’s reputation she doesn't show it.]

[Well. That's a thing. She's right up close now, and he can't easily get to the frame around her waist. Hmm.]

[He puts a hand on her nose and gives a little push. He hasn't been this close to a living dragon since the last one he had to finish off... It's a weird feeling.]

[She snorts at him. And lifts her head, bumping it on one of the landings...Probably a good job he's not a slayer. But she backs up and curls on the floor, her tail softly patting at it.]

[Not a slayer anymore, anyway. He climbs the rest of the way down the stairs before looking at the window frame caught around her middle.]

Wow. Good job you have dragon scales. Let me just...

[He grabs the corner of the frame in his gloved hands and starts to pry it apart. If he can just get one side off... Preferably without cutting his hands on broken glass.]
