Well, here's some headache-inducing news: Ultimately, they're all the same person.

And now, the wave form has collapsed, and they actually are the same person. All of those memories, plus any new abilities and scars, smashing down into a single soul, a single incarnation.

On the bright side, at least whatever universe this is, you're not alone in it. On the less bright side, good luck navigating your relationships now.

Any CRAU character can respond to this meme, though of course, it's more interesting for characters who have been to at least two games. Meet your old friends, your new friends... N--no, not exactly. I just... some places, things are different enough that I end up with different names. Most of the time it's Yuuri, like I said, but... there's one where I'm calling myself Thorn. And one where I pick the name 'Clarita'.

[Makoto scratches behind her own ear.] Huh. Did you forget everything and pick new names or something? I almost picked a new name when I forgot stuff, but nothing was cute enough anyway.

But instead of finishing that sentence, he asks,] Which do you think it is? For the better, or the worse? [Questions, always questions, always as if he's circling every subject, restlessly seeking... what? Potential pain? Weakness? Disappointment? Even he isn't certain in this moment. He only feels the need, and this is a whim of the heart he can safely indulge.]

[ World? Time? History? She's not sure which is the right word. She shakes her head and tries again. ]

[ if gabranth had even an ounce of energy left in him at this point he would be using it to stand, to meet saïx at his level. but the weight of reliving so many memories, so many years all at once, keeps him on the ground. ]

No matter how many hurts we might have left upon each other... I should think any time we spent together vastly preferable to those in which I was alone.

he looks up to saïx then, and stretches out a hand towards him. ]

Weird. I just didn't have a name 'cause of this whole amnesia thing, like off TV. J... [She shakes her head.] J? Someone who found me tried to give me new names. They all sucked. Or maybe nobody did. Auu, I wanna go back to being one me and not a bunch of me.

[She rubs her hands over her arms slowly, putting one hand over her heart and feeling it beat. Her mind is quiet, free of the second voice cackling in the background and telling her just how it's going to destroy everything she loves, or mocking her for her attempts at befriending the people around her.] He's gone...he's really gone. [She looks at him.] You...you don't remember? The-the time I was the mastermind, instead of Zange?

[The stitched-together heart in his chest experiences a deep, aching pang at Noah's words. Perhaps he should feel relief or gladness at his answer, given the first part of it, but... Alone. That had always been the way of it for him -- If he wasn't sent to another world, he was left isolated, deserted. And...] You never did weather being alone as well as I am capable of. [His voice is low, quiet, as if they're surrounded by others and he intends his words only for Noah. He hesitates, then slowly reaches out a hand to meet Noah's offered one. I, too, missed you.]

[ she's not super into dying. ] It uh... it doesn't look bad on you. I love a man with scars and weird silvery eye-sockets.

[For a moment, Ignis doesn't respond to that. He's not sure how to, in all honesty. Asch obviously is remembering something from their time on the islands, but whatever it is it's too tangled up in the rest of the memories that have been dumped into his head for Ignis to pick out immed--

Ignis focuses completely on Asch's hand as it rests against his throat and suddenly he's blindsided by a memory of drinking too much. Campfires. Warmth. Relaxed inhibitions and just a bit more than kissing...]

[The name comes out like a whispered prayer.]

You know him from somewhere other than the islands?

[Ignis is so startled by this realization that he lets the conversation on Ardyn drop temporarily. There is no doubt in his mind that the man his beloved will return to conversation fairly quickly. It's just how he is.]

Actually, I would still love to know. I don't know how long this combination of all my selves will last. I may very well end up blind again. Besides, limited vision is still an issue. I'm certain your tips will help out in both cases.

[ he smiles again, faintly, faint enough that it doesn't reach his eyes. as he looks to saïx, he pleads without words: Sit with me. ]

[ his good eye squeezes shut at that, and he tries his very hardest not to grimace. ]

I know you jest. [ because when does she not? ] This...silver was the result of a fey curse, one which I could not find the means to break.

[ and which eventually turned him into a big silver rock at some point, but, uh. she doesn't need to know that detail. he got better, anyway, aside from the spot over his eye socket... ]
